Big congratulations to the new 2019 KPL champion Annelous Lammerts! Annelous took down top spot this weekend at the Kite Mansion Open in Brazil which also was the final stop of the KPL Tour, and secured her second KPL title after missing top of the podium last year.
Annelous about the event: "The Kite Mansion Open 2019 presented by Wind Voyager Authentic Apparel was great and an amazing way to end to 2019 Kite Park League world tour. The whole season has been a great battle with Karolina Winkowska. The season started great by winning my first Triple S, which has been one of my biggest goals. Karolina won the Hood Jam and I got second so it all came down to who would win the Kite Mansion Open."
Annelous on her trick game: "I was really happy to land my first regular toeside backside 540 in competition, a trick that I learned just before. The battle with Karolina in the finals was super tight and going into the last feature the difference was only 0,1 between us. I was really happy to land a good left foot line which made me win my second Kite Park League title."
Annelous on organizing the event: "This year I was again organizing the event together with Alex Maes and Sam Galliard and Nico Baeten from the pousada the Kite Mansion. We learned a lot from last year and thanks to the support of Wind Voyager Authentic Apparel we managed to make the event bigger and better. It was great to have all the riders in Icapui again throwing down big tricks and stylish lines."
Annelous on the competition: "It was such a good battle this year and I was really happy to come out on top. Karolina won the KPL last year and she has been killing it this year as well landing tricks that haven’t been done before. The battle with her and the other girls keeps me super motivated to keep progressing my riding every single session."
Annelous on equality: "This year was also the first year with equal prize money at all KPL events thanks to the support of Wind Voyager which is something that is still not happening at other kiteboarding events. I’m really grateful that we have the opportunity to win as much prize money as the guys so we can keep pushing women park riding to the next level."
What's next? "The biggest part of the summer I have been traveling for the KPL and now that the KPL season is finished it’s time to focus on some other projects. Right now there is no time to rest yet because we are shooting a new video for Cabrinha together with Alex the coming week. After that I will stay in Brazil for a bit more to try to land some new tricks and at the end of my trip coach the Matos group that will arrive here at the Kite Mansion. The Kite Mansion is such a good place to improve your riding and also to try out new things like hydrofoiling, so I’m looking forward to help everyone learn some new things. After Brazil I will get to spend some quality time with my family and friends at home."
