Cabrinha's Global Family - Rider Spotlight - Philippe de Beaufort

Cabrinha, has fostered an extraordinary global community that embodies the Hawaiian spirit of Ohana—family. From beginners catching their first wave to seasoned pros pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, Cabrinha unites riders around the world with a shared love for the sport. This network extends across continents, cultures, and conditions, creating a sense of belonging that transcends geographic borders.

In France, Cabrinha’s Ohana has thrived, thanks in large part to the influence of Philippe de Beaufort (Spocky), a celebrated rider who has become a cornerstone of the French kiteboarding scene. Known for his dedication to the sports of kiting and winging, Spocky has inspired a new generation of riders to join the Cabrinha family.

Interview with Philippe de Beaufort (Spocky):

What does the slogan #ThinkDifferent mean to you?

To me, #ThinkDifferent is all about mixing innovation and performance with creativity and fun. In kiteboarding, this means constantly seeking new ways to enjoy time with friends at new spots, not following trends, staying true to your own style, and pushing your limits regardless of age!

What is the one thing you like the most about kiteboarding?

The adrenaline rush is unbeatable and the ways to ride are countless!! And, the freedom it gives me. When I'm out on the water, it's just me, my kite, and the elements. It's an incredible feeling of connection with nature.

How long have you been with the Cabrinha family?

I've been with the Cabrinha family for more than 12 years now (Vector 2012!). It's an amazing journey, and I'm grateful for all the support and opportunities they've provided me.

What’s your homespot?

My homespot is Lorient in France and the surrounding areas. We have a huge variety of spots in a small area with beach breaks, reefs, and lagoons. Spot selection is an underrated part of the game, and you need to consider wind orientation, tide, wind force, and the tricks you want to perform to choose the right spot. #ThinkDifferent is a real asset there!

What’s your kite setup for 2025 and why do you like each piece of equipment?

For 2025, my main setup will be the Vapor 135cm twintip and Nitro 8/10m² + Drifter 5m². The Nitro is the big air kite that all advanced riders need to push their limits with control. The kite is fast and responsive, matching perfectly with my riding style. The all-new Vapor gives me power and control in any conditions with an amazing bottom shape for perfect grip. The Drifter will help me progress in the double/loop game as it is so fast and safe for loops. As usual, trying to enjoy every windy day Mother Earth gives us. And continue to progress and land new tricks I am dreaming of.

What are your goals for 2025?

As usual, trying to enjoy every windy day Mother Earth gives us. Continue to progress and land new tricks I am dreaming of. And sharing passion with my family :)
