The Maui Kite Fest

Good vibes at the first Maui Kite Fest

The first annual Maui Kite Fest was held last weekend with a two-day competition at Maui's prime kite spot Kanaha Beach Park.

The event which premiered this year, started off with a beach clean up and opening ceremony. Then over 70 registered riders competed in the categories Big Air, Freestyle Men/Women/Groms, Foil and a distance race.

From brand icon Pete Cabrinha, pro kitesurfer and Cabrinha team rider Reo Stevens, Maui-grown watermen Kai Lenny to many upcoming talents and superb free riders, the community gathered to show off their kite skills and celebrate to sport.

The Maui Kite Fest is a community kiteboarding event bringing people together with the aim to maximize participation in a non-intimidating format on Maui’s North Shore.

Organized by Trade Wind Events in collaboration with Cabrinha, Naish, Air Rush and Maui Kiteboarding Community, the event is well set to become an annual highlight.

We thank everyone for an amazing weekend and can't wait for next year!
