Alvaro Onieva

Avaro Onieva has spent more than two decades helping shape kiteboarding, both on and off the water. Growing up in southern Spain, he switched from windsurfing to kiteboarding as the sport was beginning to take off and quickly established himself on the international competition scene. His career includes a European Championship, multiple Spanish titles, World Tour freestyle podiums and the 2014 Airstyle World Championship.

But Alvaro’s influence extends far beyond competition. A lifelong innovator, he has been involved in equipment development throughout his career, bringing decades of riding experience to his work with Cabrinha. Today, he also plays an influential role on the international competition scene as a Head Judge, event organiser and mentor to the next generation, while remaining driven by the same passion for progression that started it all.
