Pat Goodman

Pat Goodman is one of the most influential kite designers in the history of the sport, with more than two decades of experience shaping the performance, progression and evolution of modern kiteboarding.

With a background in windsurf sail design, Pat joined Cabrinha’s kite development program in 2002 and went on to create and evolve some of the most significant designs in the brand’s history. As the original designer of the Switchblade, alongside pioneering models including the Crossbow, Nitro and CO2, his work has helped define generations of Cabrinha products and influence kite design across the industry.

Throughout his career, Pat has combined an exceptional understanding of aerodynamics, materials and construction with extensive real-world testing and athlete feedback. His designs have been ridden at the highest levels of competition while remaining focused on the performance, control and accessibility that riders experience every day.

Today, Pat leads Cabrinha’s kite design and continues to push development through projects such as Design Works, exploring new materials, construction techniques and design concepts without the usual constraints of conventional product development.

More than 20 years after his first Cabrinha designs reached the water, Pat’s approach remains the same: continually question what is possible and use design to make every generation of kite perform better than the last.
