Dean Freedberg

Dean Freedberg is an industrial designer with over a decade of experience in kiteboarding, wind sports and performance-driven product development. His work spans kiteboards, foiling and technical accessories. Having designed equipment for world champions and some of the best riders in the industry he has gained deep experience in composites, complex surface modelling, softgoods and taking technically demanding products from concept through to production to perform at the highest level.

Based in Cape Town, one of the world’s kiteboarding mecca’s, Dean has spent years designing, riding and testing equipment in everything from strong winds, heavy chop, big swell and various demanding coastal conditions. That direct exposure plays a major role in how he approaches design and understanding how equipment needs to perform when conditions are far from perfect.

At Cabrinha, Dean works across kiteboarding, foiling and accessory design and development, translating rider feedback, performance targets and manufacturing requirements into refined, production-ready products. His approach combines design engineering with hands-on experience on the water, ensuring that performance, durability and the realities of how the equipment is ridden remain central to every design decision.
